Bonnie Lou Howard Brooks was born on Sunday, June 7, 1925 in Post, Texas and passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Springdale, Arkansas. She moved to Pleasanton as a young girl and spent much of her life living in the area. She moved to Springdale, Arkansas in late 2014 to live with her daughter Sarian Grider and son-in-law, Gary.

Bonnie graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1942 and Blue Mountain College in 1946. The college, a small Baptist girl’s school in Blue Mountain, Mississippi was a place that she loved. In 2016, she attended the 70th reunion of her class and was thrilled for the opportunity to share it with her family.

Bonnie also obtained a BA in Education from Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma, in 1981. She moved to Poteet, Texas and taught 5th grade for 19 years. Bonnie loved children and spent her life teaching them in both church and school settings.

Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church of Pleasanton. While in Arkansas, she really missed her friends in the churches senior programs and such as Young at Heart.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, HG and Pearl Howard; a brother, HG Howard, Jr. and by her late husband, O. Leslie Brooks of Poteet. She is survived by daughters, Sarian (Gary) Grider of Springdale, Arkansas and Miriam Williams of DeMotte, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Texas Children’s Home in Beeville, Texas or to a charity of your choice.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, 400 N. Reed Street in Pleasanton at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017. Interment followed at Pleasanton City Cemetery in Pleasanton.
