Time has come for the youth to hit the field for another Little League season.
Opening Day for Little Leagues in Pleasanton, Jourdanton, Poteet and Charlotte will be on March 23 with a full slate of games. Pleasanton will start opening day events at 8 a.m. that day. In addition to the first game of the season, Pleasanton’s Opening Day features a day full of fun with a tunnel run, food, pictures, a raffle and more.
Jourdanton’s opening day ceremony will be at 9:45 a.m. with games starting at 11 a.m. There will be a helicopter fly-in. The Brock Powell Memorial Field sign will be revealed. Also, people can enjoy concession food and snowcones. There will be a silent auction. Poteet will start opening day action at 9 a.m. with introduction of teams and games beginning at 10 a.m.
“We’d like to welcome everyone out to celebrate the beginning of the 2019 season,” said Poteet Little League Vice President Jack Carrasco. “Come on out, support the teams and enjoy food and entertainment.”
Charlotte will begin opening day at 10 a.m., also with much food for fans. Pleasanton Little League has a total of 29 teams, including six each in T-Ball and coach pitch, three each in baseball minors, baseball majors, baseball juniors, softball coach pitch and softball minors, and one each in softball juniors and softball majors. Jourdanton Little League has a total of 28 teams, including six each in T-Ball and baseball coach pitch, three each in baseball majors, minors, and juniors, two each in softball coach pitch and minors and one each in softball majors and juniors. Poteet Little League has a total of 17 teams, including six in T-Ball.
Charlotte Little League has a total of 10 teams, including two T-Ball, three coach pitch, two minors, one major, one softball junior and one baseball junior. The season lasts until June 1.
