The bleachers are set, discs have plowed the arena and cowboys will be there in full force for the Pleasanton Young Farmers’ Cowboy of the Year Open Rodeo and Festival.
Pegged as the richest open rodeo in Texas – with $15,000 added money – there should be lots of talent show up to compete.
Before Friday’s rodeo, the naming of this year’s Cowboy of the Year and the induction of two men into the South Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame will take place. After the rodeo, stay for the dance featuring Natalie Rose.
The South Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame ceremony and Cowboy of the Year presentation is 7 p.m. Friday, August.
The rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. Immediately following the rode will be Natalie Rose for the entertainment.
On Saturday during the day the barbeque cook-off will be happening. Goat roping (registration at 10:30 a.m.) will be presented plus a washer tournament (sign up at noon). The rodeo will begin at 7:30 with music by Mark Chesnutt following.
