Yolanda Benavides, age 68, passed away on January 31, 2017 at her home in Jourdanton. Yolanda was born on July 13, 1948 in San Antonio.
Yolanda married the love of her life and best friend, Ernest R. Benavides, on June 22, 1968, and was expecting to celebrate 49 years of marriage later this year. After Ernests enlistment in the U. S. Navy, they moved to Jourdanton and raised a family of seven children.
She was the best stay-at-home mom anyone could ask for and always placed her familys needs above her own. She welcomed her childrens friends as though they were part of her own family. Food was another way she showed love; she was an excellent cook.
She was well known as a loving wife, a doting mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Her grandbabies were her pride and joy.
Family and friends were Yolandas passion and delight. She will be greatly missed by many.
Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents Ramiro and Josephine I. Gutierrez and her brother, Oscar Gutierrez.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest and children Ernest Benavides, Jr., (Tracy), Yolanda Benavides,, Edward Benavides, (Christine), Eric Benavides, Edmund Benavides, Yvette Hotchkin (John) and Joey Benavides. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Marissa, Ernest, Megan, Kaylee, Brandon, Nicholas, Abigail, Tyler, Joseph Humberto, Joseph and one great-grandson: Carter Graham.
