South Texas Regional Medical Center’s Wound Care Center is available to treat patients in Atascosa County and the surrounding areas. The Wound Care Center has been located inside STRMC’s Medical Plaza since 2013 and offers a variety of services for those requiring assistance for the treatment of their wounds.
The wound care facility offers patients stateof the-art outpatient clinical wound care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and skin substitutes. Their center is staffed with a strong team of physicians and nurses committed to healing chronic wounds. Each nurse is certified in wound care and strives to learn additional ways they can help patients in their healing processes. The wound care center boasts a 95 percent healing rate, with very few patients requiring the use of hyperbaric treatment.
If you are a patient with a wound that has not begun to heal within four weeks or isn’t completely healed within six weeks, you may benefit from seeking treatment at STRMC’s Wound Care Center. Diabetic ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic wounds, surgical wounds, and burns are a few of the types of wounds you might seek therapy for at the wound care center.
The Wound Care Center stresses early intervention is vital in the healing process. If a patient begins treatment as soon as possible, they’re most likely to be healed and can potentially avoid further damage or possible amputation. The physicians and staff offer every opportunity for their patients to be healed.
The Wound Care Center is an out-patient facility only. Treatments typically last about an hour and a half each visit. The healing process is truly a commitment, but STRMC aims to ensure wound care patients receive what they need. There are many resources and information available to patients with treatment plans specialized just for you.
