The City of Poteet and Poteet Parks Foundation welcomed the community to the groundbreaking of the dog park last week at Maxwell Park. Located at Avenue E and 6th Street, the new park will be approximately 81×127 feet and be separated into two sections for smaller and bigger dogs.
A handful of citizens as well as city officials were on hand to witness Atascosa County’s first dog park come to fruition. RAH Contracting, LLC was awarded the bid to construct the dog park which was fully funded by the Poteet Parks Foundation. Though the dog park was opposed by some, council member Nicholas Vasquez was determined to get it done. The dog park is just one of the projects slated to be completed soon by the City of Poteet along with the new splash pad at Canyon Park.
“When they say it can’t be done, that only applies to them, not you,” said council member and Poteet Parks Foundation member Nicholas Vasquez.
