Work begins at Animal Control Facility

“Heavy machinery has finally arrived at our Animal Control Facility site initiating the construction phase,” said Lt. Henry Dominguez, project manager, “This week’s work began with excavation of dirt in preparation for cement ground work. Soon we will have forms set up with cement ready to be poured for the foundation. Our contractor, the Koehler Company, has advised us that there will be a necessity to excavate four feet down to establish a solid foundation for our building.”
Judge Hurley was excited and showed an interest to don his hard hat and personally be there to witness the pouring of the cement. Judge Hurley said, “This will culminate two long years of hard work and determination by our county leaders to begin building our Animal Control Facility. Lt. Dominguez will continue managing the construction at the facility and will be personally on site to make sure that progress continues smoothly.
“Weekly updates on the progress of our facility will be posted by Lt. Dominguez and can be seen at our Atascosa County Animal control face book page. The current estimated opening date is slated for some time in early 2018.”
