Mr. William G. “Bill” Critchley of Poteet, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at the age of 82, just six months after the passing of his beloved wife, Lorene. Bill was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada on Saturday, July 17, 1937, to Augustus and Alice Critchley. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Army, and he spent the majority of his working career with H.B. Zachry, where he retired in 2002 after 34 years with the company. In his retirement, he was able to devote more time to his hobbies, namely hunting, fishing, boating, camping and farming.
Bill is survived by his sons, William T. Critchley and wife Sharlene, Tommy Baker, Billy Wayne Baker, Jason Critchley and wife Rosalinda, and Lance Critchley and wife Gretchen; daughter, Mary Keene and husband John; sisters, Marie Williams and husband Tommy, and Alice Stevenson; and brother, Phil Critchley and wife Elizabeth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rodney Keene, Ashley Critchley Silva, Aaron Baker, Jacob Keene, Whitney Baker, Eleanor Critchley, Augustus Critchley, Jaycee Critchley, Crystal Cordova and Cathy Cordova, greatgrandchildren Matthew Keene, IreLynn Holmes and Isabella Holmes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorene Critchley; parents, Augustus and Alice Critchley; and his brothers, Jim Critchley, John Critchley, Ross Critchley, Gerald Critchley, David Critchley and Richard Critchley.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Road in Pleasanton on Wednesday, March 11, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Thursday, March 12 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.
