Local Matters

The Pleasanton Express plays an important role in informing community members about local education, government, elections and other civic news and events. We also help to shape community views around common values and beliefs, creating a sense of shared purpose that can be a powerful unifying force within our county. Without the Pleasanton Express, your source for local news would be social media, leaving the community vulnerable to mis- and disinformation.

Community newspapers, especially those that have not been gobbled up by corporations and are still family-owned, bind communities together, promote civic engagement, inform readers of how their tax dollars are being spent and serve as a watchdog for corruption. You cannot underestimate how much a newspaper serves as a critical medium for controlling corruption and scandal, especially in smaller communities.

The Pleasanton Express’ business model is to hire the best team of professionals who are in love with community news and the community they cover. We focus on being hyperlocal and covering what is important to this community with integrity, honesty, care and enthusiasm.

I am so proud of this team at the Pleasanton Express. They are such a talented and dedicated group of professionals who love and care deeply about this community. I have received several emails, texts and comments from citizens about how much people appreciate all we cover here locally. I thank them so much for noticing and taking the time to tell us. I always immediately pass along these kudos to the team.

It is a lot of work, but I hope you see how much we love to do our jobs. We work hard but we also work smart which means we have time to enjoy each other, our community and still “get the job done” and “do it great.” We know we will always have room for improvement. We love to grow and innovate here. We strive daily to do a better job than we did the day before. When we get it wrong, it is our mantra to get it right as quickly as possible.
