While I would encourage Pleasanton ISD voters to please support the bond election, I really want people to vote.
And though I feel that this bond is the best way to keep our schools in an upward growth, it doesn’t do much good if people don’t show up at the polls.
So many concerned people have turned out to attend meetings. Committees were formed and suggestions were questioned and some even tabled because the consensus felt that the timing wasn’t right.
But to reward these citizens would be to actually vote on Saturday, May 9 – or, even better, voting early and support the bond.
People can promote, comment, complain, commiserate, debate and cuss – but if you don’t cast YOUR vote, then it is all for nothing.
I tend to vote early in most elections because:
1. I know where to go. I don’t have to try to figure out if I vote at the school, church hall or fire station on election day.
2. I don’t have to be there on a certain day (Early voting is so much easier than the old Absentee Voting)
3. Even if I might get mowed down by an errant plane, train or automobile – my vote still counts!
4. I won’t forget or miss it if an emergency takes me out of town.
Now, I realize that there are those who HAVE to vote on election day. That is great! I get it. It’s a tradition. The way I see it, if you vote early or on the actual date – great! Just please, get out there and vote.
And, again, please support the bond – for our children, for our community and for our future!
