The Charlotte Trojanettes opened the Chad Mills era with a four-set win over Nordheim on the road on Tuesday.

The Trojanettes won by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-17.

Charlotte (1-0) will look to advance their record at the Pettus Tournament this Friday through Saturday.

McMullen drops dual matches to Skidmore-Tynan, Freer

The McMullen County Cowgirls dropped their first two matches of the season in a dual with Skidmore-Tynan and Freer in Freer on Tuesday.

The Cowgirls opened the day with host Freer, who they lost to 2-1. McMullen won the first set 27-25 before dropping the next two sets 25-16 and 25-23.

Madison Sherrer notched a team-high 10 kills in the match. Caroline McClaugherty had three kills.

Sherrer also had the team-high nine blocks in the three-set loss. Caina Sneed had four blocks for the Cowgirls. McClaugherty, Chloe Taylor and Reagan Moon each had three.

The Cowgirls then fell to Skidmore-Tynan in two sets by scores of 27-25 and 25-14 in their second match.

Sherrer was held to just four kills and three blocks in the loss. McClaugherty tallied three kills while Sneed, Brenda Beyer and Charity Harris posted two kills each.

McMullen (0-2) will travel back to Freer this Friday for the Freer Tournament.
