Virginia Charlene Yocom of Jourdanton, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the age of 79.
She was born in Knox City, Texas on February 4, 1937 to Lawrence and Ione (Messer) Skinner.
Charlene married her husband James “Slim” Yocom July 12, 1984 and they settled in Jourdanton where they ran Slim’s Tire Service. She also worked at “The Keg” for many years. Charlene enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables that she grew in her garden, as well as spending time with her children and her grandchildren. Charlene is survived by her children including her sons, David Doty and wife Tamara of San Antonio, Daniel Doty also of San Antonio and Dale Cash and wife Darla of West Monroe, Louisiana; daughters, Marilyn Williams and Brenda Malone both of Jourdanton; brother, Rodger Skinner and wife Jodi of Lawton, Oklahoma and sister-in-law, Margie Reid of Karnes City. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Charlene is preceded in death by her husband James “Slim” Yocom; parents, Lawrence and Ione Skinner and granddaughter, Nona Cash.
Visitation was at Hurley Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2017 starting at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Jourdanton City Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Charlene’s service were David J. Doty, Tommy Fiefer, Larry Doty, Kevin Armendariz, Kevin Lawson and Tommy Buzbee.
