September 13, 1941 – January 7, 2019

Virginia was called home to be with her Lord and Savior whom she loved with all her heart.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Rudolph and Claudia Ballard.

She graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport in 1959. Virginia then received her Cosmetology license from the state. She met and married George E. McCannon, who was stationed at Barksdale A.F.B. in May of 1961. In 1965 they had a daughter, Karen and then in 1970 they added a son George (Tommy) to the family.

She and the children accompanied her husband to numerous Air Force installations throughout his 24 years in the service.

After moving to San Antonio, Virginia decided to go back to school. In 1992 Virginia received her Associates of Applied Science in Mental Health Technology from San Antonio College.

She went to work for Santa Rosa Low Vision Clinic as a councilor to low vision clients until she retired. After retiring they moved to Pleasanton.

George and Virginia attended First Assembly of God until her health declined. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and Nana who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is loved and will be missed by her husband of 57 years, George E McCannon, her daughter, Karen Jurney and husband John, son George T McCannon and wife Kristi, sister Doris Lindsey and husband J.R., sister-inlaw Janet Simonds, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday February 11 at 9:45 a.m. at Cowboy Fellowship, 561 FM 3350, Jourdanton.

Followed by a graveside service at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
