VERNON BRATTON

Vernon Bratton (Bubba to family) went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the age of 84. Vernon was born in San Antonio to Dorothy (Jakeman) and Burnis Bratton on October 17, 1936. Vernon was raised in San Antonio, but his heart was always in the country and for many years, he has considered Pleasanton/ Jourdanton as his stomping grounds. He was a fixture around the Atascosa Livestock Exchange and had many friends that he looked forward to visiting with each week. He enjoyed raising various livestock over the years, as well as working with his dogs and hunting wild hogs.

Vernon retired from Civil Service at Ft. Sam Houston and still kept in touch with many of his coworkers. He never met a stranger and if you were his friend, he considered you his life-long friend. He gave his love honestly and unconditionally and will truly be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Vernon was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patty, as well as his children, Vernon, Jr. (Kris), Ryan (Sara), James (Stefanie), Georgia (Jerrett) and Amber. He was blessed by 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, John (Cheri) Bratton and Bill (Kathy) Bratton, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service for the family and friends of Vernon on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 2010 S Loop 1604 E, in San Antonio, with Br. Albert Byrom officiating. A meal will be provided by the church following the service.
