Valdemar Herrera, Sr., age 65, of Pleasanton, passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at his home in Pleasanton. He was born in Pleasanton on November 27, 1955, to Pilar Herrera, Jr. and Antonia Pena Gallegos.

Valdemar is preceded in death by his father Pilar, Herrera, Jr. his mother Antonia Herrera, son-in-law John Martin Alaniz and brotherin law Jacob Cantu.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Herrera of Christine, son Valdemar Herrera, Jr. of Pleasanton, daughter Debra Alaniz of Christine, daughter Briana Herrera and wife Larissa Garcia of Jourdanton, sisters Velma Herrera of Jourdanton and Valerie Herrera Cantu of Houston, brother Pilar Herrera, III of Pleasanton, brother Victor Herrera and wife Wanda of Wilson, AR, and eight grandchildren.

Valdemar Herrera was a loving and caring father, brother, son and friend. He enjoyed fishing, going to casinos and watching his many favorite TV series. He enjoyed his time spent in the military and told many stories of his times at sea to all he knew. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. “So you will un- derstand when I say, Death is that state in which one exists only in the memory of others, which is why it is not an end. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton City Park pavilion.
