Upward Basketball is an exciting sports league combining a fun sports experience with healthy competition while learning moral foundations for life. This basketball league for students, both girls and boys, will be for those in the first through sixth grades and is organized through the cooperation of local churches, Crosspoint Fellowship and FBC Pleasanton.
The league will consist of one practice a week for seven weeks and six games to be played on Saturdays between Jan. 30 and March 6. Online registration at MyUpward.org is now open with a mandatory evaluation of skills at the River Park on the following dates of Saturday, Jan. 9, 3-5 p.m. or Tuesday, Jan. 12, 6:30-8 p.m.
Upward Sports was founded in 1995 by Cas McCaslin and it is the world’s largest Christianbased kids sports league. This year, nearly 550,000 children in 48 U.S. states and Canada will enjoy this healthy and fun sports experience. Research indicates that children’s moral foundations are generally in place by the time they reach the age of 9. Using the universal language of sports, Upward coaches and volunteers connect with families during the formative years in a child’s life to develop values, athletic skills and a lifelong love of the game.
The league is looking for volunteers to organize, coach and referee to make this the best experience possible for our kids. We are thankful to the City of Pleasanton for cooperating with our league for the use of their facilities for practice and the games.
