Update on proposed Zinc Resources facility

As of press time, comments can still be made to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on the proposed hazardous waste processing facility planned for Whitsett in northern Live Oak County.

According to TCEQ, Zinc Resources LLC submitted an application for an air permit for the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Byproduct Zinc Recycling Plant on Dec. 14, 2020.

“The Notice of Receipt of Application and Intent to Obtain Permit (first notice) was published on Jan. 21, 2021. The public comment period will remain open through the end of the second public notice. Currently, the permit application is under review and a second notice has not been published. A determination as to whether a public meeting will be held will be made later in the permit review process,” said TCEQ in a statement to the Pleasanton Express on March 15.
