Turn-n-Burn time



The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce is ready for their third annual barbecue cook-off, Turn-n-Burn this Friday and Saturday! Though it is too late to register to cook, you can still sign up to judge. Head over to the Atascosa County Showbarn area for lots of music, team roping and more! Music entertainment is Joe Guerra and Rick Trevino on Friday. On Saturday, the music starts with Scott Wiggins Band and Rodney Hayden. The Bellamy Brothers will end the weekend event.

Coffee with the Congressman Congressman Henry Cuellar will be hosting a Coffee in Jourdanton on Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at the City of Jourdanton Library, located at 1101 Campbell. He encourages his constituents to join him and share their concerns.

Play golf in memory of Bubba The Pleasanton Rotary Club is sponsoring the Bubba Wehman Memorial Golf Tournament this Saturday, March 23. The 4-person “Florida scramble” tournament will tee off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 23 at the Pleasanton Country Club, and will be followed by awards and a steak dinner provided and donated by Pumpco Services. Donate blood next Tuesday The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will be at Charlotte High School on Tuesday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donors will be eligible to win one of two Fiesta packages. San Antonio’s Fiesta events will take place April 18-28.

Jourdanton Little League begins It’s Spring and that means Little League baseball/ softball! Jourdanton celebrates its 56th season this Saturday with a parade that will start on Campbell Ave. at 9 a.m. It ends at the field on Hwy 16 just in time for the ceremonies at 9:45 a.m. Play ball!

Attention candidates Please take some time out of your busy campaigning schedule and be included in our 2013 Election Guide. Send us a 250 word write up and a photo of yourself. If you don’t have one, we’ll be glad to help you out and take one of you to be included. You can either email it to me, mail or fax (not the photo, though) to us by March 28. It will appear in the April 17 issue. It will include the city and school candidates. It is a free service. Remember, all political minded letters to the editor will cease one month prior to the elections.
