Truman (Buddy) Clyburn, Jr. of Pleasanton passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the age of 89. He was born on October 14, 1928 on the west bank of the Atascosa River north of Campbellton, Texas to Truman Sr. and Nettie Elizabeth Mc Ada Clyburn.
Mr. Clyburn is survived by his wife, Mary Mishler-Clyburn of Pleasanton, Texas; son, Douglas Craig Clyburn and wife Tina of Campbellton, Texas; sister, Helen Gibbens of Victoria, Texas; step-daughters, Katherine Lomas and husband Gilbert, Karen Hooge, Kristine Campos and husband Joe, Kimberly Grubert and husband Jeff; step-son, Ned Waldie and wife Carolyn; 4 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Clyburn was preceded in death by his parents, younger brother, Jimmie Craig Clyburn and wife, Charlene Cheatham Clyburn.
Truman served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the U. S. Army fulfilling 736 days of combat with the 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion “Red Devils” in the Korean War.
Upon his discharge, he was Herdsman for the Gorman (JJJ) Ranch in Poteet, farmed and ranched west of Charlotte and especially enjoyed his 22 year tenure as a top feed salesman for Moorman’s Inc. serving the farmers and ranchers of Atascosa and surrounding counties. He was involved in the formation of the Poteet Strawberry Festival.
Mr. Clyburn, a successful cattleman, will forever be the consummate “old school” cowboy.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Clyburn, grandson; Drew Clyburn, grandson, Ned Waldie, Gilbert Lomas, Carlos Castano, Ben Shields, and Frank Barrera.
A funeral service will be Thursday July 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Leming Baptist Church in Leming, Texas. Interment to follow at the Campbellton Cemetery in Campbellton, Texas
