Monday, Nov.18, Tilden FFA went to the Seis Rios District LDE (Leadership Development Event) in Robstown along with two other districts. Tilden competed against several other schools. They took four Greenhand teams and six senior teams.
Greenhand Quiz place 6th out of eight teams, Greenhand Broadcasting placed 1st out of seven, Greenhand Creed placed 2nd out of nine and Greenhand Advocacy placed 2nd out of four teams. Senior Boadcasting placed 1st out of 11 teams, Senior Quiz placed 2nd out of 10 teams, Senior Public Relations placed 3rd out of eight teams, Senior Ag Issues placed 1st out of three teams, Senior Creed placed 2nd out of nine and Senior Ag Advocacy placed 2nd out of five teams. All teams placing 1st and 2nd move on to Area, which was held on Monday, Nov. 25 in Robstown.
In order to get extra practice before Area, the Tilden FFA chapter holds an Annual Family and Community night. This brings the community and family members who support the teams together and an opportunity to watch and help critique the teams before they move on to the next level. This year, it was held Thursday, Nov. 21. All teams performed and answered questions.
“I remember my first year standing in front of the community and family members as a freshman Greenhand and delivering the creed and how anxious I was. And then I look at myself now as a Senior, again delivering the creed in front of everyone and I see how much I’ve grown. I also see how much FFA has affected my life and I’m thankful for the support and critique that will help me for the Area competition,” said Tilden senior, Caroline Truelove.
