This week marks the last week that a colleague and friend will be employed in our fair county.
South Texas Regional Medical Center’s Marketing Director Will Brown (or as I have grown accustomed to calling him “Cousin Will”) is retiring from the medical business.
My first impression of Will when he came into the Express office over four years ago was “Who is this tall dude? Is he for real?”
I say “dude” with utmost respect. And while he doesn’t have many of the characteristics that Jeff Bridges’ “Dude” in the movie, The Big Lebowski, Will fills the room much like Bridges did in the film.
His emcee abilities at the Healthy Woman galas will be sorely missed. And we will miss his articles and advertising ideas that were bounced back and forth between our advertising manager Mary Gallegos and graphic guru Jessica M. Machado.
Not only will we miss him in a business sense, he was involved in the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, too. He dove in and got involved in Cowboy Homecoming, Turn-n-Burn, Taste of Atascosa just to mention a few.
Your affable nature will be missed, Cousin Will.
The way I see it, yes, he was for real. And, no, he wasn’t my cousin.
Good luck in your next chapter, Will. Hopefully, the Dude abides.
