I made a mistake. A huge one. I assumed too much and didn’t ask enough questions. And that was wrong.
In an article I wrote about a shooting, I wrongly claimed it was done inside the place of a business. It had not happened inside, but rather outside after their security staff quelled the patron who had allegedly become argumentative when asked to leave to protect the safety of their other patrons.
I didn’t do justice to the story, the business owners, their families, our police department nor to our readers.
For that, I deeply apologize.
I vow to ask more questions, contact affected parties and to practice extreme care in the future to avoid this situation happening ever again.
The way I see it, this time, I needed to see how OTHERS saw it. Period.
