By now you have been hearing about The Big Give – a combined effort to raise funds via an effort online. There are so many worthy non-profits who will benefit from this and some are from our own county. I’m a member of the Pleasanton ISD Eduction Foundation and we are participating this year along with Atascosa Family Crisis Center, Atascosa Health Center, CASA of South Texas, Tri City Animal Sanctuary and Children’s Alliance of South Texas (CAST).
Please see our front page story for more information on these participating groups and visit www.thebiggivesa.org to donate.
Remember, any and all donations are welcomed and needed.
Now for the “little”. The first day of spring was yesterday, bluebonnets are blooming and that also signals that all across Atascosa County you will be seeing our youth practicing their skills for Little League.
Opening ceremonies for the teams will be held this Saturday at 8 a.m. at various complexes to officially start the season.
This reminds me of a photo from the Pleasanton Little League that went viral two years ago. It was of a sign that is posted on each field. It says …
Reminders From Your Child:
– I’m a KID
– It’s just a GAME
– My coach is a VOLUNTEER
– The officials are HUMANS
– NO college scholarships will be handed out today
Thank you and have fun
PLEASANTON LITTLE LEAGUE
The way I see it, supporting our non-profits by donating to the Big Give and also appreciating those who support our Little Leagues by coaching, volunteering, sponsoring teams, keeping the grounds in order and the parents/grandparents who get their children to practice and to their games are to be commended.
