The Pleasanton City Council voted 6-1 at the Jan. 17 meeting, to approve Terrabella to complete the asbestos abatement of the Community Center/Library project, at a cost of $30,500. Voting against was Councilman Abraham Saenz.
City Engineer John Metting explained that the city received quotes. He recommended Terrabella Environmental Services. A motion was made by Councilman J.R. Gallegos to approve the motion and a second was made by Councilman Roger G. Garza.
Saenz said that when Councilwoman Kathy Coronado was City Manager, he tried to get more information on removing all the asbestos. Metting explained that some of it was removed before.
“It was ceiling tile that was removed before and for whatever reason, probably funding, they chose not to complete all of the removal at the time,” said Metting.
In another community center-related item, council postponed action to direct Pearson to sign the AIA Documents with Bartlett Cocke General Contractors LLC of San Antonio, since it has not been received yet.
Council also conducted the second reading and then unanimously adopted the ordinance setting stop signs at the intersection of Main and Johnson Streets.
