Around 9 a.m. Thursday morning, a police chase occurred just south of Poteet on Highway 16.

The vehicle was pulled over after driving on the wrong side of the highway. After being pulled over and identified, the suspect fled and the chase began and continued through Jourdanton, Charlotte and into Frio County.

The suspect was eventually caught after running over tire spikes deployed by the Frio County Sheriff’s Office. After refusing to exit the vehicle, the suspect was taken into custody and was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine according to Atascosa County Animal Control Chief Henry Dominguez. The suspect was transported to Pearsall hospital to be further evaluated.

After further investigation, methamphetamine was found in the vehicle

Xavier Jiminez, 33, of Beaumont, is currently facing charges of felony evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance and an existing parole warrant.

“I pulled him over for erratic driving and failure to maintain lane of travel,” Chief Dominguez said.

Chief Dominguez was assisted by the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Jourdanton Police Department, Texas Game Wardens, Constable Pct. 3 and Frio County Sheriff’s Office.
