SUSIE SOLIZ

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Susie Rodriguez Soliz, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Susie passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was born in Devine to Jesus and Elvira (Hilburn) Rodriguez on February 3, 1929.

Susie lived a long and memorable life. With a strong work ethic, pride and determination, she overcame every obstacle that came her way to raise her family whom she loved dearly.

As a devout Catholic, she was deeply devoted to the rosary and prayed it daily and viewed Mass every Sunday morning.

We will remember Susie for her great cooking, especially spaghetti, turkey dressing, capirotada and empanadas. We will also remember her striking red hair, impeccable memory and joyful laugh. She was a great conversationalist and listener, receiving family and friends warmly.

Susie enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Kickapoo. She loved crocheting, doing word searches, tending to her plants and, of course, watching the San Antonio Spurs.

Susie will live forever in our hearts and we will miss her greatly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Steven Soliz; sons Henry Soliz, and Steve Soliz Jr.; brothers Bart H. Rodriguez, Tom H. Rodriguez, Antonio H. Rodriguez and Felix H. Rodriguez; sister Pauline Rodriguez Alaniz.

Susie is survived by her sons Ernest Soliz and wife Mary Angela, James Soliz and David Soliz; daughter Diana Trevino and husband Albert; brother Daniel H. Rodriguez and wife Vangie; and sisters Rosie R. Sanchez and husband Ben, Margaret Aguilar and Christina Sorola. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren and numerous great-greatgrandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, June 22, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet at 10 a.m., with an interment following at the Rossville Cemetery.
