The Poteet Police Association was honored to host a surprise retirement party for Poteet Police Lt. Frank Leal, on Saturday, June 2. Leal recently retired after 34 1/2 years of service with the Poteet Police Department.
“It was a historical event and a great evening,” said Jennifer Hickman, wife of Poteet Police Chief Bruce Hickman. “We are thankful to everyone who helped make it possible.”
They include: the Poteet Grange for the use of their hall, Donovan Garcia and Family for the documentary video, Larry and Diane Morado for catering, Bobby and Denise Martinez/Twin Oaks Engraving for the plaque, Romo Furniture for the wooden badge, Bruce Melcher- Poteet Police Association photographer, Mike Herrera/Structured Elements for The Sandwich Time Sign and everyone involved in helping to make the night special.
Marcia Leal joined her husband Poteet Police Lt. Frank Leal at the special event. Poteet Police Chief Bruce Hickman presented Mrs. Leal with a plant, and Jennifer HIckman read a poem honoring the role of an officer’s wife.
Poteet Police Officer A. Gonzalez presented Leal with a large, engraved police badge. Many presentations were made throughout the evening by family members, friends and fellow officers, such as Leal’s Master Peace Officer plaque, a watch and other gifts.
