Jourdanton ISD has been providing approximately 450 meals per day to our community. Curbside pickup is available at the ECC Café from 9-10 a.m. for breakfast and 12-1 p.m. for lunch. Meals are also being delivered to children in Christine and can be picked up at the same times at the Christine Baptist Church. We are also providing meals to some children with a delivery service to their home.

Resources have been made available for students on the Jourdanton ISD webpage at www.jourdantonisd.net. These activities have been an option for students and no assignments have been mandatory. On Monday, April 6 Jourdanton ISD teachers will begin assigning activities and work for students to complete for grades. There are two options for students to complete the work; through the Google Classroom or through materials that will be available for pickup at the campuses. Our teachers have been working extremely hard to make sure we are not stressing out parents with this new way of teaching, which has now become homeschooling for everyone. This week our goal is for a soft implementation, making sure parents are assisting their children in accessing their Google Classroom.

We miss all our students and staff during this time, but our hearts certainly go out to the Class of 2020. Students form a special bond with their classmates through the years and their senior year is truly a time to experience all those special events for the last time as a student before jumping out into the “real world.” I am heartbroken for the Class of 2020 as we make decisions that are postponing or cancelling those memorable events for them to look back on ten, twenty, thirty…or fifty years down the road. Graduation is truly one of those events we treasure as a student and as family members, either by walking the stage or watching as parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. from the stands. In this time of uncertainty, Jourdanton ISD will make every effort to recognize and honor the JHS Class of 2020. Plans are being discussed, but no decisions have been made. JHS Seniors, their parents and the community will be notified once a plan is solidified.

Please continue to check the JISD webpage for updates and information as we keep moving forward in this unprecedented time. If you have questions, please call 769-3549.
