Summer workouts happening at Poteet, Charlotte ISD for athletes

Summer is in full swing with trips here and there and the usual nonstop of eating out. It’s difficult for student athletes to stay in shape during the summer months. However, local high schools have opened up their facilities for summer workouts for their athletes.

Since the beginning of June, Charlotte ISD has been in full swing for summer workouts.

The Trojanettes’ workouts, headed up by Coach Marile Duran, began on Monday, June 4. From 9-11 a.m., Monday-Thursday, the girls have been hard at work getting in shape for the upcoming school year.

“Mondays and Wednesdays we are at the Girls Weight Room on the high school campus. Tuesdays and Thursdays we’re out running at the track at the football field,” said Coach Duran.

As for the Mighty Trojans, they began a week later than the girls on Monday, June 11. Their schedule is as follows: 6-8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the football field.

Poteet ISD has also opened up their weight room for their student athletes, Junior High and High School.

Workouts began Monday, June 11. The weight room is available 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Students do a weight workout followed by a running workout. All workouts are supervised by a coach at all times and water is provided for students.
