The 71st Annual Poteet Strawberry Festival was a groovy, fun-filled weekend held April 13-15 that welcomed in over 170K visitors from all over. Poteet Strawberry Festival Coordinator, Carol Rivera said this year’s festival saw its largest attendance to date, surpassing last year’s record breaking 120K.

The grounds were thriving with attractions, a carnival, rodeo, musical entertainers/performers and of course, food. Guests had the chance to experience the flavorful tastes of the blooming onions, Philly cheese steaks and a variety of authentic foods. The weather was nothing short of perfect for this year’s festival, despite Friday night’s late coming thunderstorm that dampened the grounds. But that didn’t stop visitors from enjoying Friday night’s headlining performer, Foghat.

On Saturday morning, people lined the streets with families and friends to check out the 120 entries of local and out-of-town colorful floats, vehicles, organizations and businesses parade the streets of Poteet. Parade entrants were given the opportunity to participate in being judged or not. Judging was based on general appearance, artistry, originality, animation, costuming, sound and overall performance during judging. These are the results of the parade judging:
