This Saturday, Feb. 27, one lucky young lady and gentleman will be crowned the 2016 Poteet Strawberry Festival Queen and King. The annual coronation will take place at the Poteet High School Auditorium and will feature a strawberry theme. Shay Huggins will serve as the emcee.
The royalty will represent the 69th Annual Poteet Strawberry Festival, which will run April 8, 9 and 10. The one-of-a-kind celebration offers fun events for the entire family, such as the parade, carnival attractions, live musical entertainment, rodeo, food booths galore, strawberry auction and more.
The Kappa Tau Sorority is coordinating the festive ceremony. Poteet first graders will compete in the Little Miss and Mister Poteet Contest, prior to the coronation.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the evening’s festivities are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., according to Carol Rivera of the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association.
Vying for the title of 2016 Poteet Strawberry Festival Queen are: Ruby Jo Peoples, Amanda Rivera, Lea Sanchez, Destiny Sustaita and Isabella Wiederhold. Competing to be named the 2016 Poteet Strawberry Festival King are: Tyler Crisp, Donovan Roanin Garcia II, Zachary Howell, Ross Mikolajczyk and Samuel Evan Ritchey.
