The fall type weather we’ve been experiencing is just perfect to enjoy listening – or dancing- to South Texas’ favorite Tejano groups. Make plans to attend the 2015 Fall Music Festival Sunday, Sept. 20, at Jourdanton City Park.
The festival will begin at noon and end at 11 p.m., and admission is free!
DJ Sound Effects from Charlotte will get the music started at noon. Live bands begin to play for your listening and dancing enjoyment at about 3 p.m. and will continue throughout the day and evening until the close of the festival. The music entertainment features top Tejano groups Michael Salgado, Jaime y Los Chamacos, David Marez, Los Cazadorez and closing out the evening will be Erick y Su Grupo Massore.
Horseshoe and washer tournaments begins with sign-up at 1:30. The horseshoe tournament begins at 2:30, and the washer tournament will follow the horseshoe tournament. Cost is $20 per team/per event. A fun addition this year will be a Golf Putt Shot “Hole-in-One” with a $50 jackpot.
La Danzavida de San Antonio will perform their dance program beginning at about 2:30 p.m.
Food and drink booths will be available to keep you energized throughout the day. Great Mexican food specialties like beef and chicken tacos, menudo, gorditas, and nachos will satisfy your hunger along with sausage wraps, turkey legs, hot dogs, and hamburgers. (Absolutely NO ice chests are permitted!)
There will also be a silent auction, where you might find some early Christmas presents or gifts for yourself and a raffle featuring five great prizes: a 20”x32” BBQ grill, a rustic 2-seat wood and metal bench with cooler cabinet, a Yeti 35-qt. Cooler, a rustic wood and metal ice chest cabinet, and 2 Yeti Rambler Colsters. Additionally, there will be door prizes given out throughout the day.
“We are looking for this event to have a funfilled, family atmosphere,” said Amador Lugo, Music Festival Chairperson.
Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton.
