St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton will hold its annual picnic this Sunday, Sept. 22.
Festivities begin with a hearty barbecue brisket, fried chicken, and sausage meal being served starting at 11 a.m. in the parish hall. Cost is $10 per plate. Besides ample portions of the brisket, chicken, and sausage, the meal is served with beans, potato salad, cole slaw, dessert, and tea.
If you’re looking to buy some quality items for yourself or get a jump-start on your Christmas shopping, you can enjoy the action of a best bid live auction inside the hall beginning at 12:30 p.m. We will have door prizes to keep the auction interesting and lively! Prize bingo games will be played in the afternoon beginning at noon at the covered pavilion adjacent to the hall until all prizes are gone! This year, we have the return of our Country Market where you can find some home-baked goods – such as our always popular kolaches – as well as home décor.
To keep the kids entertained, there will be a variety of fun games for children of all ages and a petting zoo located on the lawn area between the hall and the city park.
The prize raffle drawing will follow the auction. All 26 of our raffle prizes this year are gift certificates including a $50 gift certificate to Joe’s Place, five H-E-B gift cards valued between $75 and $100, and 20 VISA gift cards valued between $100 and $599.
Skip the Sunday cooking, and come on over for great food, fun, and fellowship!
