What is better than having a barbecue on Labor Day? Having it a day early and prepared for you by the parishioners of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Christine. Their annual Labor Day Picnic is this Sunday, September 6. Besides the barbecue brisket and sausage dinner, complete with trimmings, there will be lots of entertaining events happening as well. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m. and the plates are $8 each. At 12:30 the big auction will begin in the comfort of the air conditioned pavilion. Stay for bingo, the roping competition, team washer and horseshoe tournaments, children’s game booths, a concession stand and a drawing for prizes. Then later, a big dance will end the day’s fun.
Organizers have scheduled team roping for all to enjoy. Books open for contestants at 2:00 p.m. with the draw at 3:00 p.m. and the start time is immediately after the draw. Throughout the day, you might want to purchase a ticket to enter the prize drawing. The drawing will be held at 10 p.m., during an intermission at the dance.
The dance, which runs from 8 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., will feature music by A Purple Golpe. Admission to the dance is free.
