Squaws improve to 3-1 in district

The Jourdanton girls basketball team won a pair of district games last week.

With the wins, the Squaws improved their district record to 3-1.

Jourdanton opened the week with a 45-34 win over San Antonio Cole on the road Jan. 2.

Laney Korus led the way with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Squaws.

Savannah Bronstad added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Vanessa Vacca scored eight points.

Jourdanton followed with a 74-43 victory over San Antonio Fox Tech at home Friday.

Destiny Powell scored a team-best 19 points for the Squaws, who also got 14 points from Erin Soward. Soward scored all of her points in the second half.

Bronstad contributed 10 points, and Korus scored eight points.

Jourdanton traveled for a District 26-3A road contest Tuesday against Karnes City.

The Squaws will return home Friday night to play San Antonio Brooks to close out the first half of district competition.
