Jourdanton’s girls basketball team is slowly starting to find its direction. With a shorthanded roster once again, the Squaws lost 45-34 at home against Falls City on Nov. 10.

“They’ve been working really hard and helping with rebounds,” Jourdanton coach Ariana Foster said, adding that the team did not have a full roster in the first two games.

Jourdanton (1-2) was within 14-13 before Falls City scored six straight points for a 20-13 halftime edge.

Jourdanton scored the first six points of the third quarter and stayed close for most of the quarter, but the Beavers scored the last nine points of the quarter for a 35-23 advantage.

Jourdanton rallied again in the first part of the fourth quarter. Samantha Meyer made a layup in transition to bring it within 37-30 with 3:32 left. After that, Jourdanton was unable to find enough openings on offense. Munoz led the team with 13 points. Emma Roach and Vanessa Vacca both had seven points. Samantha Meyer had six points.

The Squaws have a few players transitioning from volleyball to the team in the past week, with Meyer and Erin Soward playing their first game on Nov. 10 and Shyanne Bauerle and Mayce Marek entering their first game on Nov. 13.

Foster said the team will be working to improve in rebounding and help defense.

Jourdanton won 76-34 at home against Three Rivers on Nov. 13. The Squaws led 46-12 at halftime. Meyer scored 15 points. Bauerle had 12.
