On May 22, the Atascosa-McMullen Cooperative hosted the first ever Sports Banquet and Awards Luncheon for Special Olympics participants. The event was held at the Pleasanton Church of Christ Hall.
Lynse Pawelek and Michelle Gonzales presented the students with certificates. Pleasanton ISD Superintendent Dr. Matthew Mann and Jourdanton ISD Superintendent Theresa McAllister were also on hand for the event.
Everyone was treated to a brisket lunch with tea and dessert. The food was catered by Diane and Larry Morado and dessert was provided by Marie and Sonya Ortiz. The cost of the luncheon was provided by Melissa and David Del Bosque. Blanco Creek Farms donated the fruit. Lifeskills teacher Mrs. Stewart is also a member of the church, so the hall was provided free of charge. Christy Reed gave the blessing before the meal.
