Some property owners will be receiving a request for current Agricultural Applications to be filed with The Appraisal District

Some property owners will be receiving a letter from the Atascosa Central Appraisal District within the next week requesting a current application for 1-d-1 (Open Space) Agricultural Use Appraisal. The appraisal district is in the process of updating its records and needs to obtain the most current information on these properties. The property owners that are being requested to reapply have had their Agricultural Use Appraisal in place prior to 2006.

During the most recent Methods and Assistance Program Review of the appraisal district records performed by the Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts Property Tax Assistance Division, it was discovered that some properties receiving the Agricultural Appraisal prior to 2006 have outdated information or an application is not on file in the Districts records. In order to be in compliance with State requirements regarding these forms, the District is requesting updated applications from an estimated 1710 property owners.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause our property owners and would like to insure everyone that the Appraisal District staff will be available to assist with questions or concerns regarding the reapplication process. Please don’t hesitate to contact the office at 830-569-8326 or visit 624 N. Main Street, Pleasanton, TX 78064. It is our goal to make this process as simple as possible for those property owners affected by this request.
