Shirley L. Oldham, of Pleasanton passed away Nov. 13, 2017. She was born Feb. 16, 1938 to Robert and Effie Thompson and grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Loel, her parents, and her brother Harold Thompson.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Rex Thompson, her son Robert Oldham, her daughter Melissa Ball, her six grandchildren, and her eight great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt.
Soon after moving to Texas from North Carolina, she made a point of ensuring each of her nieces and nephews got a gift at Christmas – for some, the only gift they would receive. She was an avid bowler, country western dancer and Spurs fan. Later in life, she and her husband Loel spent their retirement travelling around the world. She would often counsel “there is no such thing as a bad beach.” She never met a stranger; and had a gift for making people feel like she’d known them for a lifetime.
