The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant on Saturday in the City of Jourdanton as the result of a narcotics trafficking investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. About 6:30 p.m., sheriff’s officers assisted by the Jourdanton Police Department and the Texas Highway Patrol arrived at a house on Hickory Street, a block and a half west of Texas Hwy 16. Sheriff’s investigators had determined that high grade Hydro Marijuana was being sold at the home.
Five suspects were arrested including the target of the investigation, Joel Anthony Agosto, age 26 of Jourdanton. Agosto was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces and under 5 lbs and Tampering with an Identification Number in regards to a pistol found on Agosto’s person. Approximately 16 ounces of the marijuana was seized, which has a street value of $3,200, stated Sheriff David Soward.
Four individuals at the residence were smoking marijuana around a table when the officers arrived. They were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Agosto had been arrested in November by sheriff’s deputies with a felony amount of marijuana and cash following a traffic stop. He was out on bond on the previous charge.
Sheriff Soward stated that Agosto was living and selling marijuana about a block away from a Day Care Center. Bond on Agosto was set at $20,000 on the drug charge and $10,000 on the Tampering charge by J.P. Orlando Carrasco.
“We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to curtail the illegal sale of drugs in this county, you can count on that,” said Sheriff Soward.
