Sheriff investigators make drug arrest

On December 6, 2012, shortly before 11:30 a.m., Sgt. Investigators Max Peralta and Wayne Stratton were conducting a follow up investigation in the Jourdanton area when Sgt. Investigator Peralta noticed a white Ford Explorer driving by. Sgt. Peralta recognized the vehicle as belonging to an individual who had an active warrant for a parole violation. Investigators gave chase and were finally able to catch up to the vehicle on Jiffy Blvd. on Hwy 97. The two investigators took the driver, identified as Michael Anthony Coronado, 29 years of age of Poteet, into custody without incident. While booking the suspect into the county jail it was discovered that Coronado was in possession of a medley of drugs. Officers found approximately 1.4 grams of methamphetamine, one gram of heroin and less than one gram of cocaine. Coronado was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, over one gram and one count of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, under one gram.

The total bond for Coronado was set at $50,000.00 by JP3 Orlando Carrasco. Chief Deputy David Soward stated that the street value on the drugs seized was between $250.00 and $300.00. Coronado remains in the Atascosa County Jail in lieu of bond.
