Three burglaries which occurred over a three week period in the Shalimar Subdivision were solved by the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Department.
The first burglary took place on February 23 in the 600 block of Timber Creek. The next one happened on March 14 in the 500 block of Viewpoint and the third burglary was on Dawnbridge on March 15 .
Investigating the alleged crimes were Deputy Cory Juber, Sgt. Deputy Kevin Draughn and Deputy Peter Allen.
Two days after the last crime, Deputy Peter Allen arrested Eddie Bernal. Bernal was interviewed and subsequently confessed to committing two of the burglaries. A bond was set in the amount of $40,000. On May 5, Sergeant Investigator Jesse Martinez and Deputy A. J. Mendez assisted Kimble County Deputy Steve Brown serve a felony warrant on Geoffrey Garcia at a residence on Dawnbridge.
While at the residence, deputies arrested Juan Manuel Salazar, 29, of Atascosa County for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Garcia was arrested on the Kimble County warrant where he later confessed to have been involved in all three burglaries. His bond was set at $60,000.
“Both Garcia and Bernal remain in the Atascosa County Jail in lieu of bond,” said Sheriff David Soward.
Some of the items stolen in the burglaries were recovered by the sheriff’s office and returned to the owners.
