“Texas Farm Bureau applauds today’s efforts by the U.S. Senate,” said Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boeing following yesterday’s passage of the “Phase Three” CoronaVirus legislation. “The ‘Phase Three’ legislation provides important relief to a wide range of Texans and businesses, including Texas farm and ranch families.
“The legislation provides emergency funding for U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak and replenishes some borrowing authority for the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC). These actions help to ensure there is ample funding for farmers and ranchers to survive during this national health emergency. Farmers and ranchers are struggling with cash flow challenges as a result of the rapid and unanticipated decline in commodity prices and disruption in consumer market access. We’re thankful for the agricultural provisions and increased funding contained in today’s package, including its emphasis on livestock.
“Texas Farm Bureau appreciates the support of U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz in securing passage of this important legislation. We will continue working with USDA, the administration and Congressional leaders to ensure hardworking farm and ranch families receive the resources needed to endure this challenging time.”
