Santos Reyna of Pleasanton passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the age of 87. She was born in Charlotte on March 25, 1932, to Nestor and Ladislada (Reyna) Garza.
Santos was an intelligent and forward thinking woman, ahead of her time. She inspired her family with her unconditional love and open mindedness. She loved growing flowers, traveling, and being surrounded by family. She was an amazing cook known for her homemade tortillas, tamales, peanut brittle and sugar cookies, which were matched by none and loved by all. Her beautiful smile and heartwarming laughter will live with us always as a reflection of the love and warmth she brought to this world and our family.
She is survived by sons, Raul Reyna and wife Irma and Doroteo Reyna, III and wife Rebecca; daughters, Ida Lopez and Rosa Linda Tijerina and husband Carlos; grandchildren, Audrey Garcia, Crystal Gwilliam, Angel Lopez, Elisa Reyna, Shannon Tijerina, Carlos Ray Tijerina, Adan Tijerina, Ashley Valadez, Melaney Reyna, Marcus Espinosa and Charles Reyna. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Gabriella Garza, Alexandra Garza, Ewan Gwilliam and Ellie Gwilliam and numerous other relatives.
Santos is preceded in death by her husband, Doroteo Reyna; parents, Nestor and Ladislada (Reyna) Garza and her siblings.
Visitation was conducted at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Friday, January 3 from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, January 4 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Charlotte Community Cemetery.
