Santiago “Jimmy” Pacheco, son of the late Guadalupe and Elisa Pacheco entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the age of 69.
Born October 17, 1950, as a true Libra, he had a rugged exterior with a big heart. He was wise, strong, stubborn and artistic. He was very determined, opinionated and often spoke his mind. He felt a calling to speak for others in need and stood up for what he believed was right; which was exhibited through his tenure as a Somerset Independent School Board Member and a Board of Director at the Atascosa Health Clinic. A genuine country man he enjoyed sports and the outdoors volunteering many years at the Spanish American Baseball League and traveling on many hunting trips. Later into retirement he enjoyed hanging out at the convenience stores, scratching lotto tickets and drinking coffee while taking in the South Texas mornings at the flea markets. He enjoyed touring Texas selling his leather knife sheaths at the gun shows and hanging out with his buddies.
He leaves behind many memories such as waking up the family on Saturday mornings, packing an overnight bag and exploring all the Texas hole in the walls he came across during his trucking career. Nothing was ever good, it was always “quiche quache,” but his family and friends were his pride and joy, shown through his daily check-in phone calls.
A private service will be held at the family cemetery at a later time.
Jimmy is survived by his immediate family, Yolanda, Elizabeth, Thomas, Melissa; and grandchildren, Caleb, Natalie, Nayelli and Nicholas, along with numerous friends and family.
