Sandra Williams

The beautiful Sandra Lee (Matthews) Williams took her last breath on February 10, 2018; just ten days before her 58th wedding anniversary to her loving husband, Tommy Williams, who was the love of her life.   She was born and raised in Poteet. And taught for over 15 years at Poteet High School.  She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Nell (Hickey) and Sidney Matthews and her sister, Sydney Dare.

Sandra leaves behind her husband, Tommy Wright Williams Jr., who stood by her side until the very end; her loving daughter, Amber Carter; daughter-in-law, Calli Carter; sister, Beverly Shearrer and Tinker; brother, Billy Matthews and Darla; sisters-in-law, Iona Schneider and Henry and Ima Shearrer and husband Norman and brother-in-law, Jimmy Williams and wife Norma.  She is also survived by her beautiful and smart grandchildren, Paige and John Merryman and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandra always wanted her favorite and most cherished poem that her daughter Amber wrote almost 26 years ago to be the last thing people remember about the kind of woman she was.

“To Know My Mother’s Love” The person who given me the gift of life will never go unsurpassed.  She is the pedestal on which I stand.  The greatest gift that has been given to me is the gift in who she is.  The love that will live with you till the end of time is given by her.  The selflessness and contributes are never ending.  This person only lives to love and protect you forever.  The warm and gentle hugs are a blessing from Heaven.  Strength. Character. Understanding. Forgiveness. Heart.  These are the attributes in which she possesses.  A person that gives us all there is to give and more.  This is the power of love.  This is my mother.  The gift that God gave me is to know my mothers love.  The greatest gift anyone can give me is to say you are just like your mother.  I can only hope and pray that I will be, until then.  I have the greatest gift and that is my Mother and to know my mother’s love, which is the greatest gift of all.

A graveside service was held at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2 p.m.
