Saddle up for Ropin’ at the River

Saddle up, partner, and head over to the Pleasanton River Park on May 8, 2021, for Ropin’ at the River. This free, familyfriendly event will kick off with a cowboy breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. on the large pavilion.

Then the real fun begins at 10 a.m. Let the wind blow through your hair as you enjoy a hay ride or pony ride. Be sure to wear your boots so you can visit the critters in the petting zoo.

For the competitive types, there will be a pig scramble, kids roping competitions, Cow Patty Bingo and cornhole and washer tournaments.

Travel back in time at the Historical Cowboy Exhibit and remember to get your old-time photo taken. Don’t leave without visiting the Tractor & Truck, Old West Gunfighters and Quilt shows. Plus, you’ll get to kick up your heels to a variety of music provided by The Texas Tone Rangers.

“The City of Pleasanton’s Parks and Recreation Department is excited to debut Ropin’ at the River, a free community event that celebrates the cowboy experience, in ‘the Birthplace of the Cowboy,’” said Tabitha Garza, Event Specialist. “Our goal is to provide a fun and safe experience for families in our community to attend, with little to no cost. We are working on providing a wide range of activities and fun for all ages, so we encourage everyone to save the date and come out to the Pleasanton River Park on May 8.”

This event also includes a two-day BBQ cook off May 7-8. Food vendors will be on site, too, so lasso in the whole family and mosey on over.

For more information, please visit the Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department at the Pleasanton Civic Center or call 830- 569-5904.

To sign up for the cook off, please email jmenchaca@ pleasantontx.gov.
