For the second consecutive week, Poteet turnovers got the best of them.
The Aggies lost five fumbles Friday in a 31-0 home loss to San Antonio Cole, dropping to 0-2 on the season. The Cougars (2-0) scored all of their points before halftime, including three touchdowns in the opening quarter.
Cole built a 21-0 advantage in the first 11 minutes on a 30-yard scoring catch by Micah Hatch and two rushing touchdowns by Yamonie Crawford. Crawford finished with 166 rushing yards and three scores on 26 carries.
Poteet gave up 292 yards on defense and forced three turnovers, including an interception by Eric Treviño. But offensively the Aggies had as many first downs (six) as turnovers. Poteet had all of its 125 yards of offense on 39 rushes after going 0-for-4 in the passing game.
Leading rusher Anthony Ambriz had 16 carries for 58 yards for the Aggies. Joseph Garcia added 56 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Austin Barr went 6-for-13 with 124 passing yards for the Cougars. His leading receiver was Hatch, who hauled in three catches for 82 yards.
Poteet has an open date this week before its homecoming game Sept. 22.
The Aggies will look to improve before facing Karnes City in its next contest. The Badgers (1-1) lost to Cotulla on Friday.
