ROBERT RODRIGUEZ




 

 

Robert (Bobby) Rodriguez, United States Army Major (retired) entered onto eternal rest on July 11, 2015. He was born on January 12, 1941.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margarito and Estella Rodriguez and one brother, Richard Rodriguez (Julia).

He is survived by his beloved wife Maria Lidia Rodriguez and his loving family; his sons, Ronald and Robert Rodriguez and daughter, Rebecca Rodriguez. Also surviving him are his brothers Margarito Rodriguez (Minnie), Rudy Rodriguez (Sherri) and one sister, Linda Rodriguez. He is also survived by his step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was a graduate of Pleasanton High School where he excelled in track. Attended Texas A&M. Served three tours in South Vietnam as a Signal Officer where he twice was shot down; once in a two seater one engine plane doing intelligence and was listed as Missing in Action for 10 days and another in a helicopter and was categorized as Missing in Action for eight days where he helped carry his co-pilot to safety. Bobby was a recipient of numerous commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/8 Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Star, Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Citation and several others. After retirement, Robert continued his work with the government at the Pentagon as a civil servant.

A rosary will be at St. Andrew Catholic Church Friday, July 17 at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery pending.
