Robert Allen James passed on to eternal life on April 24, 2017 at his home in Pleasanton, Texas at the age of 76. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 17, 1941 as a son to the late Richard Flint James and Guadalupe Ruby Sanchez-James.
Bob is survived by siblings Richard James, Esther Temkin, and Mary Ruth Sowell. As a beloved father, he is also survived by his children, Mark James, Damon James, Laura James, and step-daughter Kathy Lenhart all whom he shared with his former and foremost spouse LaVonne Bonnie James; also, sons Bobby James, Richard James, John James, and Jesse James all whom he shared with former spouse Peggy Brown; and son Jordan James whom he shared with former spouse Becky Belew. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob also shared his fatherly love with his extended children and grandchildren.
Bob was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving as a lineman in the 507th Signal Platoon, a special group sent to repair and build new communication lines in France, Germany and Belgium during the years 1958-1961.
He was a successful businessman of a local floor covering company in Pleasanton and previously in San Antonio called Village Floors. He also was a carpenter and enjoyed refurbishing homes and building. Also, as baseball was one of his favorite pastimes, he served as President and Assistant Coach for the Pleasanton Little League for several years whilst coaching his own sons.
He loved spending time with family, telling stories, and his sense of humor always seemed to come through even during his last few weeks of life. He also enjoyed gardening, landscaping and camping.
He depended on God throughout his life and his faith and love of God will be remembered.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him but his memory will live on in our hearts.
Funeral services were previously held at Funeral Caring USA on April 28, 2017 at 6902 NE Loop 410 San Antonio, Texas.
Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston on Monday, May 8, 10:15 a.m. Funeral procession will begin at Funeral Caring USA 6902 NE Loop 410 San Antonio, Texas 78219; lining up will be between 8:30-9:30 a.m.
